Event Details

“Empowering children to connect with their bodies, calm their minds, and express their true selves.”

Why Mindfulness Camp? Modern lifestyles, high academic demands, and societal expectations can disconnect children from understanding themselves. This camp bridges the gap by empowering kids to discover their strengths, manage emotions, and embrace who they are.

Key Benefits:

Build Body Confidence: Help children understand and love their unique bodies through Mindful Movements and Aerial Yoga.

Develop Resilient Minds
: Teach tools for focus, emotional regulation, and handling challenges through Mindful Discovery through stories and Mindful Journaling.

Foster Self-Esteem
: Encourage self-expression and the value of being “uniquely me” through Mindful Discovery and Mindful Journaling.

Main Camp Activities

🙂 Grounding – Recognizing the importance of safety in choices, embracing risks as opportunities for growth, understanding the balance of freedom and responsibility, fostering a growth mindset by emphasizing the power of ‘yet,’ and encouraging self-motivation through goal-setting and celebrating progress.

🙂 Intention Setting & Self Reflection – Through this mindfulness practices, we empower chidlren to understand, be aware and process both pleasant and unpleasant emotions, feelings and thoughts. With practice, it will help children to articulate their experiences and cultivate the actionable steps to help them achieve their goals.

🙂 Animals inspired Mindful Movements – Mimicking animal movements promotes natural movement patterns and encourages full-body engagement. Chidlren will learn to use their bodies in dynamic ways, enhancing their range of motion and coordination and the movements will require the use of multiple muscle groups, helping children understand how their bodies work together to perform tasks.

🙂 Aerial yoga – The hammock supports the body in various positions helping children to build awareness of proper alignment but it also challenges the core for stabiliy which naturally improves posture over time. Aerial Yoga is a fun way for chidlren to learn poses or movements which could be challenging on the mat and the gnetle pressure of the hammock against their body helps kids to understand spatial awareness, how their body moves through space.

🙂 Mindful Eating – Mindful eating is not a diet. It’s a positive habit associated with eating slowly, making healthier choices, savoring food, and stopping when your body signals it’s had enough. It teaches children to be conscious of taking only what they need, eat without external distractions like gadgets, and take responsibility for cleaning up. Each meal, children will play the Mystery Taste Test Game, where they will be blind folded to taste and name the food. Back by popular demand, our main lunch meal will be prepare by Mighty Meal Prep.

🙂 Mindful Journaling – Through mindful journaling, your child will embark on a journey of self-discovery, learning about their body, emotions, feelings and thoughts in ways that build resilience, confidence, and self-awareness.

Objectives

Promote body, spatial and proprioceptive awareness in your child to help build overall body awareness through different movements and social settings.

💪🏼 Body awareness is being aware of all the body parts, how they are moving, and where they are located in space. This knowledge for adults and older children is basically unconscious, travelling between the brain and spinal cord.

💪🏼 Spatial awareness is the ability to understand the body’s position in relation to the surroundings. It can have an impact on everything from picking up a book to navigating social settings.

💪🏼 Proprioceptive awareness is the body’s ability to sense its location, movements, and actions. Proprioception, also called kinesthesia, is the reason we’re able to move freely without consciously thinking about our environment.

💪🏼 Social awareness is the ability to read, hold and respect social cues and boundaries with empathy. Understanding how one’s actions can create collective influence on others and the surrounding.

💪🏼 Emotion regulation is the ability to be aware, acknowledge, accept and respond with helpful actions within one’s area of control. Conscious choice on what to respond and what to let go.

What Will Your Child Learn In This Camp?

Body Awareness

✅ Explore body parts, location, personal space and their environment. Active use of arms, legs, trunk, hands, fingers, feet, and even toes and face through yoga, aerial play, and other physical activities.

✅ Make their own risk assessment (eg: Does my body feel safe in this situation? Am I being safe for myself and others?).

✅ Learn through different movement & sensorial activities (senses of sight, touch, hearing, taste and smell) to stimulate the proprioceptive and vestibular systems which are responsible for balance, movement, and direction.

Social Skills

✅ Read social cues and be open to discuss about emotions, feelings and thoughts both pleasant and unpleasant.

✅ Hold their boundaries while also respecting others’ boundaries.

✅ Focus on themselves while holding space for others to learn.

Emotional Regulation

✅ How to use their voices to make requests and respond when they feel scared, uncertain, angry, frustrated, overexcited or anxious.

✅ Appreciate their freedom with the ability to practise self-control and be responsible for their actions.

✅ Develop a growth mindset and the confidence to do new or hard things. The magic happens outside of their comfort zone.

Why We Are Different

❤️ Day 4 of camp (Thursday) 230 – 4:30pm is a BONUS in-person practice and sharing with parents as a group‍.

We believe in a healthy parent-child-teacher ecosystem where it takes a village to raise your children. For the first time in our camps, we will be opening the floors to parents to experience how we practice and connect with the children at Mindful Space. We believe in sharing our understandings, insights and knowledge, so you can continue to find congruency and alignment to navigate what practices can fit in your family values and system. Perhaps providing a different perspective and new lens in how you observe and experience your parent and child relationship.

This is an opportunity for:
👍 what can you do to support your child to the next level in their body awareness and socio-emotional skills
👍 how you can connect and bond with conscious parenting intentions‍
👍 how you can continue to empower your children through the mindfulness and movement practice at home (beyond Mindful Space). The real and powerful practice is beyond the mat and hammock, and the best learning approach is with their role models.

Please note this will replace our previous practice of post-camp discussions /classroom observation report sent after camp. Only photos and videos are shared.

❤️ Your child is empowered to co-create their camp experiences with other children to develop their independence and socio-emotional skills.

❤️ Teacher-student ratio of 1:5. There are two teachers in class.

❤️ Small class size of maximum 11 students.

❤️ A safe and inclusive space for different ages and ability groups to learn how to co-exist with empathy and have different perspectives.

❤️ Connect and embrace challenging moments as learning and teaching moments.

Testimonials

My daughter enjoys her classes here. Especially the aerial yoga. Lovely teachers. All are very helpful and responsive to my queries. Recommend!

I brought my class of 4 year olds to Mindful Space for a parent-child workshop on woodworking and the experience was wonderful! The program was organised and tailored to the needs and skills of the children. The teachers were very helpful and enthusiastically guided the children and parents during the activity. We also loved the space! It was calming and they had a beautiful garden for the children to explore.

Reena M

Deciding to sign my 13-year-old up for a three-day camp with Mindful Space was on the spur of the moment. Dreading to have a naturally sedentary teen growing roots on the TV couch during the June holidays, I was intrigued when I read about Mindful Space’s programme, particularly their aerial yoga activity.

Those three days came and went, and as usual, I didn’t get a lot of information out of a teen apart from the fact that he had a lot of fun and wasn’t bothered by the large age gap with his camp mates.

Then a week later, I received a post-camp message from Mindful Space.

Oh my, it is by far, the most detailed and best post-camp review I’ve ever read. True to their business name, someone took the time and effort to mindfully communicate to me about my child and his time at the camp. Not only was the message kind and thoughtful, but it was definitely on point about what kind of person he is, and the areas in which we can continue to help him flourish.

One of the “wow” moments for my child was how he attempted and succeeded in doing a handstand. To some parents of naturally well-coordinated and active kids, this may not seem like much, but for my child, it was huge. He was so surprised and proud of himself – for trying and overcoming. From the note, I especially love how the teachers were able to identify a huge learning point for him through this activity – there was an acknowledgement of fear, followed by an acceptance of self, before embarking on the actual learning of the technique and continual practice.

In our busy, modern society, many people, including adults, get buried with the “doing” but missed out on the critical stage of “being”. Once in a while, we all need to recalibrate and reframe our mindsets so that we can be better equipped to embark on the “handstands of our lives”.

I’m also happy to report that my child’s posture has improved. When waiting for the bus recently, I noticed he was sitting upright when he would otherwise be hunched up like a little old man.

While Singapore is in no lack of children’s holiday camps, life-transforming programmes like these are rare and precious. Thank you so much, Mindful Space.

I sent my daughter and nieces for their 3 day holiday camp and they loved it! Really liked how they got to try aerial yoga, experience a positively charged environment and learn about mindfulness.

Diane Rodrigues

A place that is building a community of mindful parents through family activities, kids fun explorations of nature and feelings through art, sport, team building. A space that is made emotionally safe through compassion, recognition and respect for the beautiful kids souls that will be adults tomorrow.

My daughter practised aerial yoga here and both my kids look forward to attend camps here. We also asked Vernessa’s team help to organize my 8 year old party: It was a lovely day for the kids with aerial yoga and batik painting in the garden. I am very happy to support this business and this team for the extremely valuable work they are doing.

Laura Miani

Attended parent and child aerial yoga with my 4yo. She absolutely loved the experience. Great that the teaching assistant to parent-child pair ratio was almost 1:1, so it felt really safe (can’t always see how your kid is climbing above you in the hammock). Plus lots of photos and videos were taken by staff which they sent to us after, so we could just be in the moment to enjoy the class without worrying about having to capture the memories like our usual kiasu selves 😁

I have had the fortune to participate in numerous classes and events at Mindful Space. Whether it be sessions relating to becoming a more thoughtful parent or exercise classes with my kids, I have always walked away learning and doing something new.  Mindful Space is a wonderful and happy oasis for kids and parents alike, filled with inspiring people in a welcoming, clean and spacious environment.  Keep up the great work!
