You Are Not Alone

There Is No Perfect Parent. There Is a Good Enough Parent Who Keeps Growing.

We often know what to do. Yet in the busyness of life, with work, school runs, tuition, helpers and grandparents all in the mix, we find ourselves slipping into stress reactions and old patterns. We raise our voice, then feel guilty. We try a new strategy, then lose steam.

Parenting coaching is an opportunity to rediscover yourself as a parent and transform the way you connect with your children. In a non judgmental, safe space, we explore the why behind your parenting choices, how your own story shapes the way you respond, and what is within your control: how you show up.

We all wear different lenses to view our world. When you shift the way you see, move and act, new choices and new possibilities open up for you and your family.

A Co-Partnership

Coaching Is a Partnership of Equals

Coaching holds the belief that you are whole, complete and creative, and that you can find the answers within yourself. I am not the expert of your family. You are. My role is to shine a light on blind spots, widen the way you see a situation and offer a different awareness.

Parenting coaching and therapy: how they differ

 Parenting CoachingTherapy
Starting pointYou are whole, complete and creative, and able to find your own answers.Assumes there is an issue to be diagnosed and treated.
RelationshipA co-partnership with equal power. The coach walks beside you, not ahead of you.The therapist is the expert who provides solutions and advice.
FocusThe present and future. We revisit the past only to notice where a story or belief began, so you can move forward.Often works deeply with the past to heal trauma and emotional wounds.
OutcomeYour own awareness, choices and goals for yourself and your loved ones.Diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions.

What You Bring

  • Openness, curiosity and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone
  • Small, realistic actions between sessions
  • Honest feedback about what is and is not working for you

“While I cannot walk this path for you, I am here to walk it with you. Even on hard days, showing up in whatever way you can is enough.”

Our Approach

Ontological Parenting Coaching: Body, Emotions and Language

Rather than handing you a one size fits all rulebook, ontological coaching focuses on your way of being. Rooted in a systems based philosophy, it looks at how three connected parts of you shape your inner voice, your identity and every interaction with your child.

Body

Your body keeps score of stress and tension. Learn grounding and regulation practices so you can respond instead of react.

Emotions

Welcome every feeling, yours and your child's, and understand the message each emotion carries.

Language

Explore the stories you tell yourself and the words you use at home, and shift your lens to redefine your family narrative.

By exploring your inner narratives, past influences and family dynamics, you are empowered to break generational patterns and approach parenting as a shared journey of growth. Sessions blend coaching conversation with gentle, practical tools:

Inside a Session

What a Coaching Session Looks Like

Each session is 60 to 90 minutes and shaped around what you need that day. Many parents tell us that simply being outdoors, moving and breathing, helps them think more clearly than sitting across a table.

Arrive

Mindfulness to Ground

A short mindfulness practice to settle your body, slow your breath and arrive fully in the moment.

About 60 min

Coaching on Your Focus

A deep, honest conversation on the topic you choose, from a recent meltdown to a pattern you want to change.

About 20 min

Body and Creative Practice

Art, journaling, mindful walking, somatic movement or TRE®, chosen to suit your needs and the weather.

How It Works

Your Parenting Coaching Journey

A supportive space that welcomes all your emotions, a safe container to hear your story, and a journey together to shift your lens.

Start with a Conversation

Reach out on WhatsApp and share a little about your family and what you hope to change. A short discovery call helps us see if we are the right fit for each other.

Begin Our Partnership

You share your hopes for your family and what matters most to you right now. Coaching is fluid, so each session follows what you bring in that moment.

Coach, Move and Reflect

Meet for a minimum of 6 sessions over up to 12 months, outdoors in nature or online, at a pace that suits your family.

Practise and Grow

Try small, realistic actions at home. Between sessions we hold check ins for accountability and boundary setting, so your growth stays steady and sustainable.

🌳 Outdoors in NatureWe meet in a Singapore park, garden or by the beach, so mindful walking and somatic movement become part of the coaching. Wear comfortable clothes and bring water.
💻 OnlineVideo sessions at a pre-scheduled time, ideal for busy weeks, rainy days or families living overseas.
🧘 1:1 CoachingA private space just for you, to explore your own inner world and the way you show up for your family.

Meet Your Coach

Vernessa Chuah, Parenting Coach and Founder of Mindful Space

From a very young age, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Teaching and coaching has never just been a profession for me. It is a calling of the heart. Over more than 20 years, my journey has taken me across Canada, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore, learning alongside children and adults in many educational settings across both Western and Eastern cultures.

As a mother of two beautiful daughters and three angel babies, this work is deeply personal. I know how much parents long to be present, patient and loving, and how easily we can feel overwhelmed, exhausted and unsupported. This is a journey I walk myself, and continue to learn from, every single day.

Mindful Space and my parenting coaching were born from this place of lived experience and compassion: a gentle space where families can slow down, reconnect, reflect, relearn and grow together.

  • Ontological parenting coach integrating mindfulness, somatic movement and creative arts
  • ICF certified coach
  • Parent and teacher workshop facilitator for preschools, primary schools and MOE educators
  • Experienced in supporting families of neurodiverse children
  • Certified TRE® Provider and Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist®
  • Singapore's first ICF certified pregnancy and infant loss coach

What Parents Say

Stories from Our Mindful Families

“Through the coaching sessions, I have learnt that the way that I talk to myself can harm me not just mentally but physically too. I also learned that what I think might not be the truth, even though to me it seems like it is. The shift I noticed in myself since coaching with Vernessa is I am nicer to myself in the way that I talk to myself, especially when going through something difficult. Vernessa is a great listener and friend, I would recommend her if you are looking for coaching.”

Lok
Coaching Client

“Many relevant examples and practical strategies were shared that enlightened the way we possibly can handle young children during meltdowns. Patient and interactive in answering queries from both parents and educators. We have tried the strategies and already see improvement in the children!”

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Parenting Coaching in Singapore

What does a parenting coach do?

A parenting coach partners with you to understand what is really happening at home, why certain moments trigger you, and what you would like to do differently. The coach does not hand you a script. Instead they shine a light on blind spots and widen the way you see a situation, so you can find strategies that suit your child and your family.

How do I get started with parenting coaching?

Send a WhatsApp message to 9783 7313 sharing a little about your family and what you hope to change. We then have a short discovery call to make sure we are the right fit before you begin your coaching journey of at least 6 sessions.

Where are parenting coaching sessions held?

In person sessions are held outdoors in a Singapore park, garden or by the beach, which allows mindful walking and somatic movement to be part of the coaching. Sessions can also be held online by video, which suits busy parents and families overseas. On rainy days we can move to a cafe or online.

How many sessions do I need and how long is each session?

A coaching journey includes a minimum of 6 sessions of 60 to 90 minutes each, spaced over up to 12 months at a pace that suits you. Each session usually includes a short mindfulness practice for grounding, around 60 minutes of coaching on a focus you choose, and around 20 minutes of a supporting practice such as art, journaling, mindful walking, somatic movement or TRE®.

How is parenting coaching different from therapy or counselling?

Coaching sees you as whole, complete and creative, and is a co-partnership of equals focused on the present and future. Therapy is led by a clinical expert who diagnoses and treats mental health concerns and often works deeply with the past. Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, and the two can work well side by side.

What challenges can parenting coaching help with?

Parents in Singapore commonly seek support for tantrums and meltdowns, big emotions, not listening, yelling and losing patience, sibling rivalry, screen time, bedtime struggles, school and PSLE stress, parenting a neurodiverse child, different parenting styles with a partner, grandparents or helper, new baby and family transitions, communicating with teens, and parent burnout.

Is parenting coaching one to one?

Yes. Parenting coaching with Vernessa is a private one to one journey focused on you, your inner world and the way you show up for your family.

Do you support parents of neurodivergent children?

Yes. Mindful Space is an inclusive space and Vernessa regularly supports parents and educators of children with ADHD, autism, sensory needs and learning differences, focusing on regulation, connection and adapting the environment to the child.

Is parenting coaching confidential?

Yes. Coaching conversations are held in confidence and are not shared with anyone without your permission, unless required by law or if there is a concern for your safety.

What is TRE® and why is it part of the coaching?

TRE®, or Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises, is a gentle body based practice that activates the body's natural tremoring reflex to release deep muscular tension and calm the nervous system. It is always optional and is offered only when it is safe and suitable for you.

You Are Courageous for Seeking Support
